Lyon Airport
Lyon Airport is situated 15 kms east of the city. There are numerous arrival and departure gates in the airport but the majority of UK flights arrive at gate 10 (terminal 3). Easyjet have regular flights landing here. Being one of the major French airports means that it is very well appointed with shops, restaurants and bars.
Whilst Lyon Airport is considerably further away than Geneva or Chambery the route is almost entirely on motorway making for fast transfer times. Be aware that even the motorway can get vey busy during French holidays with long queues at the tolls. Transfer prices do reflect the distance and tolls involved.
Tignes
Along with Val D'Isere, Tignes makes up
the huge Esapce Killy ski area with around 300 kms of pistes. It is
one of only a few resorts in Europe classified as snow-sure. It boasts
a very long winter season plus summer skiing and snowboarding on it's
glacier. It is well known for it's good off-piste, half-pipe and snowboard
parks. The night life here is also top drawer with many different
venues to choose from and a very friendly atmosphere. It is spread
over five resort centres with Les Brevieres at the bottom being the
most picturesque. Next up is Les Boisses followed by Le Lac and Lavachet
which are probably the best spots for nightlife and shopping along
with Val Claret at 2100 metres.
