Along with Tignes, Val d'Isere makes up the huge Espace Killy ski area with around 300 kms of pistes. It is well known for it's good off-piste and snowboard parks. With the Glacier in Tignes the area boasts a long season and good conditions can usually be found somewhere in the resort even after long periods without snow. The town itself (1950m) is very picturesque, nestled in a narrow valley with traditionally built chalets, some excellent hotels and world-renowned nightlife!
Lyon Airport is situated 15kms east of the city. There are numerous arrival and departure gates in the airport but the majority of UK flights, including all of Easyjet's, arrive at gate 10 (terminal 3). Whilst Lyon Airport is considerably further away than Geneva or Chambery the route is almost entirely on motorway making for fast transfer times. Having said that the motorway can get vey busy during French holidays with delays of 1-2 hours.
