Grenoble Airport
Do not be mislead by the map, Grenoble Airport
is actually situated approximately half-way between the Cities of
Grenoble and Lyon so transfers from here may take longer than you
think.
The Airport itself is similar in size to Chambery with only one shop
and one bar. For 2007 they extended the airport by adding a new arrivals
gate in the shape of a marquee! Having said that the main terminal
is a very modern and significantly quieter than Chambery.
There are two routes available from here either on the motorway (faster
by 10-15 mins) or the more direct and very picturesque route through
Chartreuse. Your driver will be happy to take either provided there
are no time constraints.
Tignes
Along with Val D'Isere, Tignes makes
up the huge Esapce Killy ski area with around 300 kms of pistes.
It is one of only a few resorts in Europe classified as snow-sure.
It boasts a very long winter season plus summer skiing and snowboarding
on it's glacier. It is well known for it's good off-piste, half-pipe
and snowboard parks. The night life here is also top drawer with
many different venues to choose from and a very friendly atmosphere.
It is spread over five resort centres with Les Brevieres at the
bottom being the most picturesque. Next up is Les Boisses followed
by Le Lac and Lavachet which are probably the best spots for nightlife
and shopping along with Val Claret at 2100 metres.
Grenoble to Tignes Transfer - 235kms - approx. 2hrs 45
