Grenoble Airport
Do not be mislead by the map, Grenoble Airport
is actually situated approximately half-way between the Cities of
Grenoble and Lyon so transfers from here may take longer than you
think.
The Airport itself is similar in size to Chambery with only one shop
and one bar. For 2007 they extended the airport by adding a new arrivals
gate in the shape of a marquee! Having said that the main terminal
is a very modern and significantly quieter than Chambery.
There are two routes available from here either on the motorway (faster
by 10-15 mins) or the more direct and very picturesque route through
Chartreuse. Your driver will be happy to take either provided there
are no time constraints.
La Plagne
The resort of La Pagne is made up of
many villages. Starting from the bottom - Plagne 1800, Plagne Centre,
Aime La Plagne, Plagne Bellecote and Belle Plagne (all of the purpose
built, high rise variety). There's also Plagne Villages and Plagne
Soleil, not to mention Montalbert and Champagny which are accessed
from the other side of the resort. The ski runs sprawl over a very
large area and provide a very wide range of terrain. The park is
fairly average but the pipe is very good after it has been groomed.
La Plagne has a reputation as an intermediate, family resort but
this is far from the truth as it has plenty of harder runs and very
good off-piste than can remain untracked for several days after
a snowfall.
Grenoble to La Plagne Transfer - 225kms - approx. 2hrs 30
