Geneva Airport
Geneva airport is situated very close to the French border and, as such, has terminal's in both Switzerland and France. Always exit on the Swiss side unless you have visa issues which prevent you from entering Switzerland (non EU passengers). This is the most popular airport for transfers to our area due to it's proximity and the varied choice or airlines and routes available. EasyJet offer cheap flights to here from a large number of UK cities.
The best route from Geneva takes you along Lake Annecy which is very picturesque but can have heavy traffic during school holidays. The new motorway link between the airport and Annecy which opened in winter 2009 cut transfer times by 15 minutes without affecting the price.
Val D'Isere
Along with Tignes, Val D'Isere makes up
the huge Esapce Killy ski area with around 300 kms of pistes. It
is well known for it's good off-piste and snowboard parks. With
the Glacier in Tignes the area boasts a long season and good conditions
can usually be found somewhere in the resort even after long periods
without snow. The town itself (1950 metres) is very picturesque,
nestled in a narrow valley with tradionally built chalets and some
very nice hotels. There is a full range of restaurants, bars and
clubs but prices can be higher than many of the other local resorts.
