Geneva Airport
Geneva airport is situated
very close to the French border and, as such, has terminal's in
both Switzerland and France. Always exit on the Swiss side unless
you have visa issues which prevent you from entering Switzerland
(non EU passengers). This is the most popular airport for transfers
to our area due to it's proximity and the varied choice or airlines
and routes available. Easy Jet fly here from a large number of UK
cities.
The route from Geneva takes you along Lake Annecy which is very
picturesque but can have heavy traffic during school holidays. A
new motorway is due to open in December 2008 between the airport
and Annecy which should cut transfer times by 15 minutes.
Tignes
Along with Val D'Isere, Tignes makes up
the huge Esapce Killy ski area with around 300 kms of pistes. It is
one of only a few resorts in Europe classified as snow-sure. It boasts
a very long winter season plus summer skiing and snowboarding on it's
glacier. It is well known for it's good off-piste, half-pipe and snowboard
parks. The night life here is also top drawer with many different
venues to choose from and a very friendly atmosphere. It is spread
over five resort centres with Les Brevieres at the bottom being the
most picturesque. Next up is Les Boisses followed by Le Lac and Lavachet
which are probably the best spots for nightlife and shopping along
with Val Claret at 2100 metres.
Geneva to Tignes Transfer - 175kms - approx. 3hrs
