Geneva Airport
Geneva airport is situated
very close to the French border and, as such, has terminal's in
both Switzerland and France. Always exit on the Swiss side unless
you have visa issues which prevent you from entering Switzerland
(non EU passengers). This is the most popular airport for transfers
to our area due to it's proximity and the varied choice or airlines
and routes available. Easy Jet fly here from a large number of UK
cities.
The route from Geneva takes you along Lake Annecy which is very
picturesque but can have heavy traffic during school holidays. A
new motorway is due to open in December 2008 between the airport
and Annecy which should cut transfer times by 15 minutes.
Peisey/Vallandry
Situated at the southern end of Les Arcs,
Peisey and Vallandry are slap bang in the middle of the massive
Paradiski area. Made up of several villages, Plan Peisey and Vallandry
(adjacent to each other) are the only ones that are actually on
the slopes and certainly boast the best nightlife/shopping. We personally
recommend The Bar du Mont Blanc! Peisey itself is lower down but
does have lift access and a couple of bars/restaurants. The smaller
town of Nancroix is very picturesque but the lifts are a short bus
ride away (you can ski down to Nancroix but the route is entirely
off piste). The skiing around here is exceptional with loads of
tree runs and the Villages themselves consist mainly of traditionally
built chalets.
