Geneva Airport
Geneva airport is situated very close to
the French border and, as such, has terminal's in both Switzerland
and France. Always exit on the Swiss side unless you have visa issues
which prevent you from entering Switzerland (non EU passengers). This
is the most popular airport for transfers to our area due to it's
proximity and the varied choice or airlines and routes available.
Easy Jet fly here from a large number of UK cities.
The route from Geneva takes you along Lake Annecy which is very picturesque
but can have heavy traffic during school holidays. A new motorway
is due to open in December 2008 between the airport and Annecy which
should cut transfer times by 15 minutes.
La Rosiere
La Rosiere is generally regarded as a family
resort with many intermediate runs. It is linked by ski lifts with
La Thuile over the border in Italy. Whilst a relatively small area
it does have some excellent off piste which can remain untracked for
days after a snow fall, and a terrain park. The
town itself at 1850 metres has some amazing views south down the valley
towards Moutiers and east towards Val D'Isere and is actually situated
on the Col de Petit St. Bernard. If you are driving out don't get
fooled by your route finder though as this road is only open in the
summer!
