Geneva Airport
Geneva airport is situated
very close to the French border and, as such, has terminal's in
both Switzerland and France. Always exit on the Swiss side unless
you have visa issues which prevent you from entering Switzerland
(non EU passengers). This is the most popular airport for transfers
to our area due to it's proximity and the varied choice or airlines
and routes available. Easy Jet fly here from a large number of UK
cities.
The route from Geneva takes you along Lake Annecy which is very
picturesque but can have heavy traffic during school holidays. A
new motorway is due to open in December 2008 between the airport
and Annecy which should cut transfer times by 15 minutes.
Courchevel
Courchevel is situated in the furthest
east of the three valleys. Together with Meribel and Val Thorens/Les
Menuires it boasts a massive ski area. It is made up of five seperate
villages - 1300 (La Praz, the original Village), 1550, 1650 and
1850 and La Tania. The higher up you go the more expensive it gets
and the top end hotels in 1850 boast clientele such as the Beckhams
and some notorious Russian Playboys! La Tania is slightly west of
the main resorts and was purpose built to provide extra beds for
the 1992 Olympics. Each area has it's own compliment of bars and
restaurants with 1850 being the most well appointed.
