Geneva to Alpe D'Huez Mountain Bike Airport Transfer
Geneva airport is situated very close to the French border and, as such, has terminal's in both Switzerland and France. Always exit on the Swiss side unless you have visa issues which prevent you from entering Switzerland (non EU passengers). This is the most popular airport for transfers to our area due to it's proximity and the varied choice or airlines and routes available. EasyJet offer cheap flights to here from a large number of UK cities.
The best route from Geneva takes you along Lake Annecy which is very picturesque but can have heavy traffic during school holidays. The new motorway link between the airport and Annecy which opened in winter 2009 cut transfer times by 15 minutes without affecting the price.
Alpe D'Huez is most famous in cycling for two things - one of the toughest climbs in the Tour de France, and the Megavalanche! Each year hundreds of riders make their way over from the UK to take part in what has become one of the most well known mountain bike races in Europe. Alpe D'Huez has a lot more trails to offer away from the race course and benefits from a huge vertical drop of nearly two kms!
The travel time from Geneva to Alpe D'Huez is around 2.5 hours.
