Geneva Airport
Geneva airport is situated very close to the French border and, as such, has terminal's in both Switzerland and France. Always exit on the Swiss side unless you have visa issues which prevent you from entering Switzerland (non EU passengers). This is the most popular airport for transfers to our area due to it's proximity and the varied choice or airlines and routes available. EasyJet offer cheap flights to here from a large number of UK cities.
The best route from Geneva takes you along Lake Annecy which is very picturesque but can have heavy traffic during school holidays. The new motorway link between the airport and Annecy which opened in winter 2009 cut transfer times by 15 minutes without affecting the price.
Les Arcs
Les Arcs is the Cool Bus local resort
so expect nothing but a completely biased review here! The resort
is fantastic with tons of terrain, particularly now that it is linked
with La Plagne via the largest ski lift in the world. There is some
incredible off-piste with the only downside being that it does get
tracked out very quickly. The snowboard park is extremely well shaped
and maintained. Sadly no halfpipe though. There are excellent tree
runs around 1600 and vallandry. It also has the longest ski run
in the Alps from the top of the Rouge all the way down to Villaroger.
If you want nightlife go to 1800. If you want nice chalets go to
Vallandry. If you want to be closest to the best terrain go to 1950
or 2000. That is it in a nutshell!
